Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions about our plans for The Homestead Schoolhouse we’d love to hear from you. We are still working out many of the details so we may not have all the answers just yet, but we’ll be happy to share what we can. Here are a few of the questions we’ve received already:

Enrollment

We are currently at capacity for the 2024-2025 school year. Please contact us to be placed on a waiting list.

Cost

The cost is $400 per month, per student, but thanks to The Proverbs 22:6 Project, no student will pay full tuition. We have partial scholarships available for every student who enrolls. The scholarship amounts are based on the number of students enrolling per family. We also have a variety of payment plans available.

Many people will say they could never afford a private education for their children. But prayerfully consider The Homestead Schoolhouse. If you feel it would be a good fit for your family, ask God to show you how to make it work financially. We are also currently raising scholarship money in an effort to make this an affordable option.

Through the generosity of our community friends, we plan to offer every student who attends The Homestead Schoolhouse a partial scholarship. If you can help with that, check out the Proverbs 22:6 Project.

We are so grateful to our financial partners! The Homestead Schoolhouse is a nonprofit organization, and your donations are tax-deductible. You may mail a check to The Homestead Schoolhouse, P.O. Box 272, Taneyville, MO 65759, or donate online if you prefer.

Affiliation

We are legally independent of any church or denomination. We have filed for 501(c)3 status and operate under our own organizational by-laws and statement of faith. As a Christian school, we work alongside all the churches in our local area.

We have an exciting update regarding accreditation! When we open for classes this fall, we will begin the accreditation process through ACSI. This is an accrediting association for Christian schools. Typically, this takes around three years, but with God’s help, we should be fully accredited by the time our first seniors graduate.

Logistics

We plan to follow the local public school schedule as closely as possible to make it easy for families involved at both places. We will meet Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We hope to do so in the future! We will work with the Health Department to ensure our kitchen is approved. We will need to be able to cover the cost of hiring a head cook and make the lunches affordable for families to purchase.

Yes. Research has shown that school uniforms have several benefits. Even though we include an agriculture element, we strive to teach our students to be professional and know how to present themselves. Many places of employment require uniforms or some type of dress code. We have tried to make the uniforms as affordable and practical as possible.

We have several security measures in place. Those will be outlined to parents during the enrollment process.

Extracurricular

We hope to be able to include homeschoolers in the future, but for the 2024 – 2025 school year, we are unable to accommodate part-time students.

Not at this time. Students have a recess time each day for recreational sports as well as a structured P.E. time where a variety of sports are learned, but we don’t have a league for students to participate in competitively.
